Word Power

The therapist often makes use of the continuous flow of power words that creates an overload of information or message units, making it difficult for the conscious mind to maintain its control. With an overload, the earlier active conscious mind can’t take anymore and finally gives up control. Thus making it possible for the therapist to access the subconscious mind.

Overload of information may contain powerful and positive suggestions, or confusing and sometimes difficult to understand sentences, putting pressure on the conscious mind that may struggle to make out its meaning, while simultaneously losing its control, thereby making the entry into the subconscious possible and easier.

Repetitive use of opposite words and phrases is another common technique to induce a state of hypnosis. eg: “with each breath, you go deeper n deeper”.

Other times a suggestion may be designed with a repetition of forwarding and backward counting or creating a play of words or simply suggesting the client to focus on a point on the wall followed by quick instructions to open and shut their eyes, until the target point, where the conscious mind gives up control, paving the way into the subconscious part of the mind.

Music

Music is another powerful tool to induce hypnosis for therapy. The music we know, not only touches the soul but also heals the mind. Music may feel soothing to some while inspiring others. Just like there is music to put you in a meditative state, there is also music that can put you into a hypnotic trance. Hypnotic music is also used in fitness clubs and gymnasiums, mostly categorized as workout beats.
