TURMERIC – Queen of Indian Kitchen, part 1

From a high value  trading commodity of ancient China, India, Egypt, Turkey and Rome, to the famous spice comprising wonder compound Curcumin.
TURMERIC in this century, happens to be one of the most popular spice used across the Globe, from East to West. It is one of the most potent medicinal herb that even  has a mention in the ancient texts of Ayurveda, which was written thousand years ago. 


TURMERIC The Queen of Indian kitchen

A major ingredient in almost all Indian curries, turmeric is a natural food colorant. It enhances  the taste and aroma of any dish you add it to. Regular intake of food with turmeric cleanses and heals inner body organs. Thanks to its, anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It can be used in powdered form as a spice added to food. Seasonal, fresh turmeric roots chopped, sautéed with salt n pepper, makes up as a superfood side dish with Indian bread. There are many wonderful ways to use turmeric in everyday living. It all depends upon your individual curiosity and the willingness to adopt turmeric and make it a part of your life.

Turmeric or “haldi” as it’s known in Hindi, has been a favourite home remedy of all grandmas, I have known so far. There is certainly some effectiveness and truth within Turmeric.

Useful Haldi Hacks 

Turmeric or haldi has so many benefits, you can’t deny not having it with you, at home or office. The antiseptic properties in turmeric makes it a good ointment when mixed with water and applied on fresh cuts or recent wounds. Fresh brewed turmeric root tea or turmeric pepper concoction is considered to be a magic potion for reducing belly fat.

If you want to get rid of ants just sprinkle a little turmeric powder on the floor. Or else, draw a line with it, the ants dare not cross the line.

If you are a garden lover or somebody who hates to see pests on your plants. Then, homemade turmeric spray comes handy to ward off the many attacks  on your greens.
