What is Prana?
Prana is a Sanskrit word. In the simplest form Prana means Life or Spirit. Prana, Chi, Rhua, Mana, Ka all refer to the same breath of life or the universal life force that flows in all living beings. Humans, Plants, animals, the Sun, the Moon, Air, Water, Fire carries the vital force within it. There’s a hidden energy that keeps us alive other than the functioning of human anatomy, the heart that beats and the blood that flows through our veins.
The Invisible Life Force
The oxygen that we take in, unconsciously with every breath we inhale, has something more. It cannot be measured, nor separated from the very breath. This same hidden force keeps every cell within our body, alive. When the flow of this force stops or terminates, we are declared dead. The heartbeat stops, the pulse stops, and even with plenty of oxygen around, the body stops absorbing it. Hence the same life force, then ceases to flow through us. Understanding, this force which is so powerful, it must also have more to it. Prana is’nt just any invisible form of energy we inhale along with oxygen, to keep us moving. Prana is the essence of vital energy that permeates the entire Universe.
Three Sources of Prana
Prana not only keeps the body alive but also keeps it healthy and that’s where healing lies.
There are three major sources of Prana. First is SOLAR PRANA , the one that is present in the sunlight. It can be obtained by sunbathing, sungazing or drinking water charged or exposed under sunlight.
The second is the AIR PRANA . It is absorbed by our lungs through breathing. The variouschakras or energy centers located in our etheric body also absorb Air Prana. There are minor chakras on the fingertips of our hands and in feet (sole area). When performing exercises like chi Gong the repetitive slow movements of the hands help in absorbing the chi or prana. Energy is often absorbed through the minor chakras, the pores on our skin absorb air prana too. The simplest way to absorb air prana is through slow, rhythmic and deep breathing in nature.
The third source of Prana is GROUND PRANA. This is often absorbed through the soles of the feet. There are minor chakras or pressure points located under our feet that are sensitive to the energy. Walking bare feet on the ground, increases the absorption of ground prana. Not only humans but plants, water, rocks also absorb prana through Sunlight, Air, and Earth, their vitality, health. Their existence depends upon the amount of prana contained in them.
Origin and technique
Pranic healing as a modality of alternative medicine is not so old, when compares to the existence of Prana. Prana has always been there around us, inside us. Pranic healing as a science and form of energy healing came into recognition by its founder. It was Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, a Filipino of Chinese descent with his many years of experimentation in life energy and work on esoteric research that Pranic healing finally got recognition.
Pranic healing is a miraculous form of energy healing, originating in South East Asia, further expanding to neighbouring countries, now well spread to different corners of the world. It’s a no-touch healing therapy based on the projection of pranic energy or chi from the source through the healer (as a medium/channel), towards the subject or person receiving the healing. It is the manipulation and projection of fresh prana into the subject or patient’s energy body to achieve desired treatment towards a disorder or disease, that makes this energy a healing tool.
